Building Bonsai and Accent Pots for nearly 4 years now, originally for my own use as i found that pots of a decent quality were far to expensive for the average bonsai grower.
What i found out very quickly was that after the initial layout of wheel and kiln, the production side of the pots was quite cheap and with a little training, and plenty of imagination the sky was the limit as to what type and size of pot that could be produced
my pots became quite popular amongst some growers because of the styles and of course the low price, and this will remain my primary goal "to produce quality stoneware and earthenware bonsai and accent pots for the average grower at a price that everybody can afford.
I design bonsai and accent pots, focusing on quality and affordability. I start by designing the pots, choosing the shape, size and texture either choosing myself or from request of the customer. Next I choose the clay, to ensure the pot completes as intended. After this comes the production and first firing which creates a stronger and more stable pot to work with. Next I take photos of the initial pot to discuss with the customer the specifics of finishing the pot to ensure they are happy with the product and then I finish it by glazing the pot and firing it at over 1250 degrees to make it frost resistant.
several years training by two of the top potters in kent at the Aylsford Priory in the heart of kent near maidstone, means my skills have increased extra fast and I'm now able to offer a bespoke service to customers who want that extra special pot in a special colour that make your tree stand out amongst the rest.
Are the pots frost proof?
There is no such thing as frost proof, all my pots are fired to 1250 degrees to make them as frost resistant as possible.
Is there sufficient drainage?
All my pots come with sufficient drainage for your valuable trees and accent plants plus all pots (with the exception of the smallest accent pots) will have wire holes, the bigger the pot, the more drainage and wire holes you will find.
Are my pots strong and durable?
All pots including accent pots are fired twice first to 1000 deg the bisque fire before glazing and then to the max of 1250 deg to vitrify the clay.
Can i leave my pots outside all year round?
There is no reason why this is not the norm, but i always advise that pots should be put in a cold greenhouse or similar location over the worst of the winter cold.
why are some pots glazed on the inside?
This is just a preference with some type of pots, it will not effect the drainage or retention of water in any way, some growers prefer this other do not.
I don’t see a pot that I like?
If you have an idea for a pot and its not too intricate then drop me a line and I will see what I can do for you, I have completed many bespoke pots for customers who were very satisfied.
Can I have this pot in a different colour?
Again if you require a particular glaze on your pot then drop me a line with your ideas and i will do my best to getwhat you want.
Why are your pots so cheap compared to other potters?
I try to keep the costs down to the minimal, unlike other potters this is more of a large hobby to me rather than a business to make as much as possible.
Can I return a pot?
If for any reason your pot is damaged in the post even with the smallest chip please contact me, you can return the pot at my expense or if you still want the pot we can come to some arrangement that is good for both parties
Do you do any discounts?
The more pots you buy the bigger the discount i will offer ( over three pots) or i will offer additional pots in the designs and style that you like as a thank you for your custom.
Can I buy your pots anywhere else?
My pots are for purchase on this web sight and also on Ebay (follow the link on the about page) or by going to premier bonsai shop at Premierbonsai.co.uk.
